Life is a Just Employer
This month's newsletter centers around the following poem from the original edition of Think and Grow Rich.
"I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.
For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial's hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid."
Now that's a reality check! The Bible promises that we can have life in abundance if we are willing to claim it for ourselves. The question is often not "Is abundant life possible?" rather; it is "Will I choose to live the abundant life that is possible?"
Living a "so alive inside" life begins with choice. Choice is what gives me the power to live the kind of life I was created to live. Success or failure lies in my own hands. Even God himself can't choose one or the other for me. He has given me free will to make that decision. He does however suggest which one I should choose. Dueteronomy 30:19 says "...I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life that you may live...."
God promotes success, not failure. Because He gives us the power to shape our destiny we have a role to play in creating the life we want. It is easy to go about life thinking that what we want and truly desire will just fall in our lap. Yes, it's true that amazing things can happen but usually shaping our own destiny takes a lot of work, discipline, and focus.
The Bible also suggests that we should count the cost. Basically it tells us to be wise about the decisions we make and consider what we are willing to pay for the life we want. There will be a cost involved. Are we willing to pay it? That is the question we must ask ourselves.
So, to bargain with life for a penny, is a risk. It means "settling" for something far below what God has planned for us. It is our choice though. Life will give us whatever we ask of it. So let's choose to claim what God has already given us and live life truly alive!
Recent Happenings
March has been about clean up, writing and refreshing. After embarking on making my own dreams happen I started finding the "business" side of things slowly drowning my creative side. Eventually, all I found myself doing was the "business" side.
I decided to allow myself a break, a time to get back to the core of why I am doing what I am doing. Because I am still fairly new to the world of taking control of my own destiny and pressing on with my God-given call, I am still learning about balance.
If you know anything about personality types, I am a choleric. When I get going with something it is easy for me to go overboard with it because I am such a perfectionist. Cholerics, are great at plowing ahead with things but often find recreational or refreshing time meaningless or hard to embrace. That definitely takes its toll.
Cleaning up various areas of my life that I felt were unbalanced, getting back to writing consistently and getting in touch with the meaning behind what I am doing was very necessary and I am glad I took the time to do it.
The CD project is slowly coming to completion. I am currently toying with the idea of expanding the CD beyond what I originally had planned. It is already great but this will make it even more fabulous. It has been very important for me to go with the flow on this project to make it what I feel God is asking me to put together. I am very excited about how it is turning out. I will keep you updated on the progress!
Until next time, embrace the life that is already yours!
